Tyneside Lounger

Deadgood

2014

A lounge chair developed for an independent cinema in Newcastle Upon Tyne. With the requirement to cater as both an art gallery during the day and a cinema space at night, the chair had to be easily portable and stackable whilst remaining comfortable for extended periods of use.

The lounger was designed to enhance the cinematic experience, creating seating with a domestic feel and the comfort of home whilst delivering the requirements of a small, flexible cinema screen.

Possessing generous armrests, the lounger offers the use of the whole chair, providing more space than typically afforded in a cinema. Tactile materials of solid oak and wool engage the user, and a loose cushion adds adjustable comfort. Two buttons securing a removable head panel create a friendly appearance and a subtle detail to the chair.

Due to the lounger’s versatility and durable construction, it is especially suited for commercial projects in various public spaces.
